In Loving Memory of Rhoda Gladys Murray Rhoda Gladys Murray, a vibrant soul who brought elegance, joy, and a touch of island warmth wherever she went, peacefully transitioned and got her Angel wings on June 14, 2026, at the remarkable age of 97. Born and raised in the beautiful islands of Hawaii, Rhoda’s life became a grand adventure when she met the love of her life. Together, they relocated to Fairfield, California, where her husband, James R. Murray, served in a vital civilian role for the Department of Defense, and Rhoda dedicated herself to creating a loving, impeccable home for their children. Rhoda and Jim lived life to the absolute fullest. Together, they were true jet-setters who attended grand balls and high-society events. Rhoda was a gifted home seamstress, beautifully designing and hand-crafting all of the gorgeous gowns and sharp suits they wore to these elegant affairs. Tragically, her beloved husband passed away at the young age of 44. At the time of his passing, their daughter, Rhonda Jean Murray, was just 18 years old, and their beloved son, Jeffrey Lynn Murray, was 21. Despite the immense heartbreak, Rhoda bravely carried the torch of the family legacy with unmatched strength, grace, and independence for over five decades. Later in life, she faced the profound loss of Jeffrey when he passed away at the age of 50, yet her resilience and love for her family never wavered. A woman who loved to laugh, socialize, and embrace the good life, Rhoda was a proud and active member of both the Fairfield Yacht Club and the Eagles Club. She loved nothing more than spending sunny days out on the yachts with her dear friends, living vibrantly well into her golden years. Rhoda was a constant anchor of love, support, and strength for her family. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren more than anything in this world. Together, the family shared countless beautiful vacations, building a lifetime of wonderful memories that are preserved in the houses of pictures and videos she leaves behind—treasures that her family will cherish forever. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Jean Murray, who loved and cared for her mother deeply every single day of their 69 years together. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, including her grandson Erik, who lovingly lived with and cared for his grandmother in her final years, ensuring her days were filled with comfort and happiness, as well as her other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She goes now to join her husband and her son, Jeffrey, who preceded her in death. In accordance with her final wishes, Rhoda will be cremated so that she can fulfill her long-held dream to eternally rest alongside her beloved husband. An intimate private family Celebration of Life will be held to honor a woman who truly knew how to live, dress, and love with all her heart.
